FASHION: Do You Know About Copenhagen Fashion Week?

IF YOU DON’T, then you should. Contrary to what many people think, Fashion Week isn’t just reserved for Paris, Milan, New York and London, there are now fashion weeks all over the world and one in particular I love is Copenhagen. It’s relevant, approachable and stylish. Less frills than the others much like the Danish, who I think are effortlessly cool :). Some great Danish brands are Stine Goya for their gorgeous prints and colour combos, Ganni is also a firm favourite for prints and all round style, and for more classic danish styles Malene Birger is the brand for you.

The street style in particular is one to look out for, it’s wearable, tasteful fashion and great to see the women are actually dressed for the sub-zero temperatures.

HERE ARE SOME OF MY FAVOURITE PICTURES FROM THIS FASHION WEEK.

Love the muted neutral shades and how perfect all the women look together with their clashing prints.

FASHION: Christmas Party Wear Edit

I’m sure a lot of you are already in full swing Christmas mode and already one or two parties down. With the full diaries through December and lots of reasons to dress up I wanted to pull together some of my favourite looks for Christmas.

  1. Suiting

Instead of reaching for that LBD, why not change things up a little? Suiting is more luxe than ever before, it’s sexy with a little lace camisole underneath and a pair of heels or make the look a more androgynous with a pair of brogues. What better way to hide that cheese induced muffin top….?

2. A Bit Of Sparkle

I don’t know about you but I am quite partial to a bit of sparkle and what better time is there to get all glitzed up. If you want to dress your sparkle down a bit, then team the item with a contrasting fabric like knitwear or jeans and why not finish off with your trainers, this way you can ensure you will be the last on the dance floor!

Sequin Fringe Skirt - And Other Stories £69

Want to make a more dramatic entrance then perhaps a maxi dress is for you. A maxi is a great option if you are trying to hide a magnitude of sins and super comfortable for a full day of festivities.

4. Channel the 70’s

Get sassy in a 70’s inspired jumpsuit, this look is effortless but looks the exact opposite! Just be mindful that it can get a bit tricky getting in and out, when you have had a tipple or two ;).

SHOPPING: Gift Guide For You or For Me :)

We are fast approaching the CHRISTMAS COUNT DOWN and I am hell bent on not leaving my Christmas shopping till the last minute this year. If I had been savvy then I could have got it all done in the Black Friday sales, but sadly this is not the case.

So, here is a list of things that I think will make great gifts for your loved ones or perhaps the perfect gift for YOU.

MY TOP 10 GIFT IDEAS:

  1. Candle LOVE

This is interior joy in a candle, I love the rose gold metal! After the candle is finished it will make the perfect holder for your make-up brushes/ toothbrush/ utensils etc,

2. Evening Bag

Or day bag? Add a little luxe to any look with this sexy velvet and bejewelled buckle clutch.

3. A Trusty 2019 Diary

Yes we probably all use our phones for our calendars and notes, but call me old fashioned, I don’t think you can beat a good old diary. Especially when it’s as chic as this.

4. Dreamy Dress

A bit of a spenny gift, so maybe this is one for YOU, why not treat yourself this Christmas ;). The plaid trend is a firm favourite this season and this Beaufille dress is everything. It’s a great piece to wear dressed up with boots or shoes, or down with trainers or layered under a knit to change the look entirely.

5. Booties

A lady can never have too many shoes and these are pretty great! The geometric coloured heel and square toe make this a real stand out piece and also a block heel means they are going to be easier to walk in them.

6. Perfume

Perfume is always a winner and something that you don’t always want to buy yourself. This is one of my favourites.

7. A Staple Knit

This is the type of gift that keeps on giving, it will never date and will be a trusty staple.

8. Something Sparkly

We all love a bit of jewellery and this letter necklace is timeless, if it’s good enough for Carrie Bradshaw, it’s good enough for me!

9. Stocking Fillers

Michelle Obama’s book Becoming i’m sure will be an inspiring read.

10. Beauty Favourites

This night oil will be just the pick-me-up after the merriment of the Christmas festivities, a thoughtful yet useful gift.

FASHION: How To Look Good On The School Run

TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE in the morning and mothers can be running around like headless chickens trying to get the family up and out, time spent getting ready is usually at a bare minimum.

While it’s tempting to put on the fail safe jeans, t-shirt, jumper and trainers. It can get repetitive and a bit boring which can end up making you feel a bit low in confidence over time. It doesn’t mean you have to look perfect everyday but it is possible to feel put together MOST days (at least on the outside), even when time is not on your side.

There are so many options out there so I want to give you some suggestions that are easy to wear, comfortable and make you feel ready and rearing to go.

  1. Invest in a Good Coat

Make your coat do the hard work on the days when you have nothing clean and just need to get out the house. Invest in beautiful fabrics and great cuts which will hide the multitude of sins underneath.

2. Wear Black

Wearing all black is the easiest and chicest way to get dressed, you can pretty much get away with not ironing anything as the creases are much less visible. Black never goes out of fashion and if you are having one of those ‘I feel fat’ days, then black is a great colour to hide behind as it instantly makes you feel slimmer. Play with the textures, like leather and velvet to add a little more interest to the outfit.

3. Dresses with Trainers

Thinking about one item outfits is a quick and easy way to get dressed in a rush. Throwing on a dress with some socks/tights and trainers is a great look, it makes you look styled with very little effort required and is super comfortable too. If you need to add extra layers, then throw on a polo neck top under the dress or a chunky knit over, which changes the look completely.

4. Have Perfect Basics

If you prefer heading out in more casual clothing then make sure your basics work for you and they are in perfect condition. You can look put together and effortlessly styled in good basics.

5. Use Accessorise

It’s amazing how adding one simple accessory can transform your outfit. Add earrings to almost any outfit and it looks more styled and finished. If you are in desperate need of a hair wash and there is no time, grab a coloured beanie, beret or alice band to hide behind. Accessories are often an after thought, but if you are wearing a very paired down outfit it really can transform your look if you add one or two accessories.

6. If All Else Fails…..

And you are having one of those mornings where nothing is going right, you just can’t get out the house and you feel “meh”. Then I suggest a STRONG coffee, a slick of RED LIPPY because who doesn’t feel better when they have red lipstick on and the biggest pair of sunglasses to hide behind. Or just stick on your gym kit and pretend you are off to a Yoga or HIIT class straight after, no-one will be the wiser :)

FASHION: Why We Should Buy Less, Keep Longer & Start Considering Sustainable Fashion.

Sustainability is a word you will have heard by now with a lot people making adjustments in their life to live more green and more environmentally aware. Many people are making changing in the way of diet, recycling and gaining awareness of plastics and packaging. However, have you considered your clothing, where they are from? how much they cost to be made? Or even who is making them? If you haven’t then I urge you to start.

The fashion industry is the second largest polluter after the oil industry and majority of our clothes are produced in developing countries by people who are paid next to nothing, working under terrible conditions and living in poverty. I’m not saying we should stop buying from our favourite stores, but I think we need to buy more consciously and consider where our clothes are coming from. We need to start buying pieces that we can keep, that are made responsibly and with a conscience.

So what can we do to help?

  • Choose fabrics with stricter environmental regulations, like linen, organic cotton and other organic fibres, silk and lyocell.

  • Pick more independent brands who are ethically and responsibly manufacturing their clothes.

  • Buy less good quality clothing and keep longer.

Brands To Look Out For:
