IF YOU ARE A BUSY WOMAN with a never ending to-do list, juggling 101 things, like job, children and life, mornings can often be a little stressful. They can leave you feeling frazzled and stressed before the day has even started, which can affect the smooth running of the rest of your day.
Time saving requires a little organisation and planning ahead of time, a series of small, albeit it possibly boring tasks to help save those precious minutes so that you are ready to conquer your day from the get go, feeling great.
1. Clothes Prep.
I know there seems to be better things you could be doing with your time, i.e relaxing on the sofa or spending extra time in the pub with friends, but we really can waste a lot of time trying on and choosing the right outfit in the morning. If it feels like an arduous task to select an outfit the night before, then I suggest taking 30 mins on your Sunday and planning for the week. I would put them as outfits on the hanger and arrange them at one end of your wardrobe. You might think this is a bit OTT but I seriously can’t express how much smoother your morning will go just knowing what you are wearing. Feeling comfortable and happy with your outfit choice can have a really positive impact on your day too.
2. Check the Weather.
It would be a good idea to check the weather for the week so that you are picking the right outfits for you and your family, you might need to locate the waterproofs and will save yourself time and energy not having to do that in the morning.
Yes you know what’s coming, iron ahead of time, don’t leave this for the morning. If you do happen to leave it for the morning and running out of time, a little trick is to hang the item in the bathroom and the steam from the shower should make the creases drop.
4. Make your Lunch.
Either pack you leftovers from last night’s dinner or cook up a batch of something at the beginning of the week. This helps in more ways than one. It saves you money so you can use the pennies for a treat to yourself and it’s usually healthier and less calorific than those pre-packed sandwiches.
5. Have a Place for Everything.
Be organised and have a place for everything, keys, wallet, phone, umbrella. You can save so much time and stress not spending that frantic 10 minutes before you leave the house trying to locate your keys.
6. Have a Set Time to Leave the House.
Have a set time that you have to leave by to ensure you reach your work/ destination 10 minutes early. Then if you are running slightly late it’s not the end of the world and you can still be on time without rushing.
7. If a Task Takes a Minute or Less, Do It.
This is a GOOD RULE for the general up keep of your home, if a task takes a minute or less just do it. For example, undressing and putting them back in the wardrobe or straight in the laundry basket, so they don’t just sit on your floor for the week. This ensures the home stays uncluttered and can help you to keep a clear head.
I know this is not the most riveting set of jobs, but honestly extremely valuable if implemented. My mornings are generally quite enjoyable knowing I have pre-planned everything and I can often squeeze in a 10 minute meditation and a good breakfast to kick-start my day.
