HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. I feel like I have had a bit of a slow start to this year, partly due to going away and also because I GOT ENGAGED :). Which has meant I have been celebrating and seemed to have forgotten that I need to work. So here I am second week of January and just about easing myself back in.
I know most people write about New Years resolutions, however I try not to set any. Instead I evaluate and analyse the year gone by, write down what went well and what areas I need to grow and progress in. This way I can look at my ‘failures’ and learn from them. I say failure in inverted commas because I don’t believe that we really fail, we have an opportunity to grow and possibly move in a slightly different direction.
If you want to do the same I would suggest to get yourself a journal and keep this for your year on year reflection, so that you can go back to it. The best place to start when you are looking at the year just gone is with the POSITIVES. What was the best thing that happened this year? What were the main events and milestones? What did you accomplish? At least even if it’s not been the best year, you have a chance to look at some of the things that went well for you, write down the event and in detail how it made you feel. Have a think about anything unexpectedly great that happened. Then address the learning points, what was the most challenging thing to have happened this year? think about why it was a challenge, what you could have done differently and what you have learned from that experience.
Now the FUN PART, you can be creative about what you want from the coming year. What do you want to focus on this year? What changes do you want to make in your life? How do you want to see yourself grow? What else do you want to do or make happen? Write it all down, with as much detail as possible, be elaborate and let yourself dream. This process can be very cathartic.
For me last year was good year, not my favourite but still a good year. I feel It has been introspective in many ways, I have been looking inwards to figure out what I really want from my career. It’s been 2 hard years working on Rue Belle. I finally feel like I have found a better voice to speak to you with, however I have not plucked up the courage to start talking to you via video, FYI 2019 goal! I have some charity work lined up for early this year with Shelter and a styling event with Haven Hospice which I am really excited about and possibly want to focus the business in this direction, so it’s definitely an area I will be exploring more. I will continue to build Rue Belle and hope there will be a bigger and brighter future ahead.
